About the Role
We seek a motivated and meticulous Golang Software Engineer to contribute to American Express's global Loyalty and Benefits platform. This microservice-driven platform is engineered to manage the entire customer experience related to loyalty and benefits on a worldwide scale. It leverages contemporary technologies such as Golang, Kafka, and Docker, offering significant opportunities for innovation and skills advancement.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of a Scrum team, you will develop and refine features within the Account domain. You will also collaborate with fellow engineers across the platform to exchange knowledge and engineering principles.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience with at least one backend type-safe programming language, with preference for Golang, although other languages will be considered.
- Familiarity and hands-on experience with backend microservice architectures and communication methods, especially REST APIs and asynchronous messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Comfortable working within an Agile Scrum framework as part of a collaborative team, contributing to business functions and customer journeys that include automated testing throughout the CI/CD pipeline.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional experience in software development roles.
- Strong grasp of test-driven development practices, including unit, component, functional, system integration, and regression testing.
- Understanding of various software engineering methodologies such as Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD), and Waterfall models.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, Golang, Git, gRPC, Docker, and GraphQL.
- Experience with continuous integration, deployment, and testing tools, including Jenkins, Rally, JIRA, and version control systems like Git or SVN.
