About Volta

Volta is a pioneering AI infrastructure company operating a fully integrated platform spanning capital, clusters, and software. With a mission dubbed The Utility of Compute™, Volta aims to deliver AI infrastructure as reliably and ubiquitously as electricity to any organization requiring it. Fueled by a significant $10 billion strategic pact with a top frontier AI laboratory, an Andreessen Horowitz-led Series A round, and a $5 billion AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is rapidly growing its team of over 100 employees in London, Palo Alto, and New York, targeting expansion to several hundred.

Role Overview

As the Global Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and managing the pricing methodology for all projects at Volta. You will define the standards, models, and benchmarks ensuring precise cost projections early in project cycles, providing critical financial clarity for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain estimating procedures, standards, and tools across Volta’s projects worldwide.
  • Deliver and verify cost estimates during feasibility studies, early planning stages, and final baselining.
  • Create should-cost models for significant components and essential equipment.
  • Develop and maintain cost benchmarks across different projects, geographic regions, and execution approaches.
  • Provide independent costing insights to support procurement negotiations effectively.
  • Compare projected estimates to actual expenditures, refining models with each project iteration.
  • Mentor project teams on best practices and assumptions in estimating.
  • Contribute cost insights to influence design and delivery strategies.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrable experience in estimating for data centre or major capital expenditure projects is mandatory.
  • Proven expertise preparing estimates both in initial concept phases and detailed project stages.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction cost factors.
  • Skilled in developing cost benchmarks and should-cost modeling.
  • Commercially savvy with confidence supporting contract negotiation processes.
  • Ability and comfort working with projects across Europe and the United States, managing associated time zones.

Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration reflective of your work contributions rather than previous salaries.
  • Equity participation, enabling you to benefit from the company’s growth long-term.
  • Retirement or pension schemes.
  • Comprehensive healthcare, wellbeing, and insurance coverage.
  • Generous annual leave allowance.
