About Volta
Volta is a pioneering, fully integrated AI infrastructure platform encompassing capital, clusters, and software under visionary leadership. Our core mission, "The Utility of Compute™," aims to make AI infrastructure as reliable and accessible as electricity for organizations globally. Backed by a $10 billion strategic partnership with a leading AI lab, a Series A funded by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5 billion AI Infrastructure Fund, we are rapidly expanding across London, Palo Alto, and New York with significant growth planned.
Position Overview
The Global Estimating Manager plays a crucial role in defining how Volta prices its constructed projects. This role entails establishing estimating standards and benchmarks to ensure precise cost certainty at the earliest project phases. Collaborating with front-end planning, procurement, and control teams, you will develop should-cost models, benchmark costs across projects worldwide, and enhance Volta's purchasing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain estimating standards, methodologies, and tools across Volta's global projects.
- Create and validate estimates during feasibility studies, early planning, and project baselining stages.
- Develop detailed should-cost models for significant packages and vital equipment.
- Compile and analyze cost benchmarks across different projects, geographical regions, and delivery approaches.
- Provide independent cost insights to support procurement negotiations.
- Compare estimates to actual costs to refine and improve cost modeling continuously.
- Coach project teams on effective estimating practices and underlying assumptions.
- Incorporate estimating data into strategic design and delivery decision-making processes.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated estimating experience in data center or major capital construction projects is mandatory.
- Proven ability to generate estimates during both early-stage and detailed project phases.
- Deep understanding of MEP-intensive construction cost factors.
- Experience in building cost benchmarks and should-cost models.
- Commercial insight and confidence in supporting procurement negotiations.
- Ability to work across projects in Europe and the US, accommodating multiple time zones.
Benefits and Culture
- Competitive remuneration reflecting your contribution rather than previous salary history.
- Equity opportunities allowing participation in Volta's long-term success.
- Retirement and pension contributions.
- Comprehensive health, wellness, and insurance packages.
- Generous annual leave entitlements.
