About the Role
Join Glovo, part of the Delivery Hero Group—a global delivery pioneer operating in 65 countries with headquarters in Berlin. We aim to provide a seamless and speedy delivery experience to customers worldwide. As the Global Affairs Lead based in Kampala, Uganda, you will oversee public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, and sustainability initiatives to further Glovo's business objectives and societal impact.
Responsibilities
- Devise, implement, and manage Glovo's non-market strategies focusing on public affairs, supported by communication and sustainability projects to strengthen success and legitimacy.
- Collaborate with local consultancies, think tanks, industry associations, and relevant stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy.
- Coordinate with internal teams such as Marketing, Legal, and Operations to ensure alignment on strategies addressing key regional challenges linked to business goals.
- Provide thorough analysis of local stakeholder landscapes, risks, and opportunities; identify influential connections within regulatory, administrative, media, and social sectors.
- Lead high-level engagement with senior stakeholders and represent Glovo in major policy discussions.
- Manage budget allocations to ensure impactful and scalable project delivery.
- Lead planning and execution of external communications, enhancing brand visibility, corporate reputation, and supporting commercial growth.
- Maintain consistency in messaging across media relations and foster long-term relationships with journalists, media outlets, and technology industry influencers.
- Create engaging social media content primarily for Instagram and LinkedIn, and explore other platforms relevant to local customers.
- Analyze PR and social media metrics to guide data-driven adjustments aimed at improving effectiveness.
- Handle crisis communications promptly and professionally within the region.
- Identify and implement ambitious impact and sustainability initiatives that promote positive change and minimize negative environmental footprint.
- Ensure impact projects align with global affairs goals by engaging key partners and establishing institutional footprints.
- Utilize global toolkits and data, collaborating with regional and local teams to deliver timely and effective impact strategies and explore cooperation opportunities with local organizations.
Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of broad experience in Government Relations, Public Affairs, or Public Relations.
- Open to professionals transitioning from related fields such as legal and corporate affairs, industrial relations, or public sector leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s politicized environment and informal mechanisms to navigate government and institutional relationships.
- Creative expertise in comprehensive communication strategies including social media management and influencer-led consumer campaigns to position Glovo as a market and socioeconomic leader.
- Strong crisis management skills with the ability to act decisively during regulatory changes or media and social media crises under pressure.
- A proactive and hands-on approach, embodying a startup mentality to actively safeguard Glovo’s business model daily.
- Ability to lead on-ground with native or fluent English; must be based in Lagos and flexible to travel frequently to other major Nigerian cities like Abuja.
