Role Purpose
The General Operative will support the various manual functions required on a busy construction site, working under the supervision of the site manager or foreman. Responsibilities include manual material handling, site upkeep, assisting skilled tradespeople, and ensuring safe, clean work environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning on the construction site.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and goods arriving or departing from the site.
- Operate machinery such as loaders or manage traffic if properly trained and certified.
- Keep work areas free from debris or hazards to maintain safety standards.
- Support senior tradespeople in tasks like cable installation and tray runs.
- Undertake other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferably at least one year of experience in a building site environment.
- Must hold valid certifications including Safe Pass, manual handling, and harness training.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship, always upholding Kirby’s quality standards.
- Completion of Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualifications is preferred.
