Job description

Company and Employment Details

This role is within a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use McDonald’s branding and food products. Unlike McDonald’s USA, the franchisee is a separate legal entity and employer responsible for all employment matters such as hiring, firing, discipline, staff supervision, and scheduling. McDonald’s USA does not intervene in the hiring process or employment decisions and won’t receive any application information.

Job Summary

The General Manager role involves leading a profitable restaurant operation while ensuring adherence to McDonald’s rigorous standards regarding quality, service, and cleanliness. This position requires strategic goal setting in coordination with leadership and managing a team of Department Managers to meet those goals effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage restaurant profitability and uphold McDonald’s customer service standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and implement restaurant goals.
  • Lead and coach Department Managers, enabling their goal-setting and performance improvements.
  • Oversee hiring and development of Department and Shift Managers to secure strong future leadership.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in restaurant management or retail required; quick service restaurant management preferred.
  • Experience leading high-volume locations, ideally as a General Manager.
  • Previous affiliation with McDonald’s is highly advantageous.
  • Hospitality or retail background is a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to hold managerial responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary ranges from $58,240 (Kenai Peninsula) to $80,000 (Southeast Alaska), negotiable based on work history.
  • Monthly performance-based bonus opportunity, potentially earning an extra $2,200 monthly upon meeting targets.
  • Possibility to increase earnings depending on experience, performance, and training completion.
  • Benefits include paid time off (10-20 days), sabbatical programs, comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, disability and life insurance, free meals at regional McDonald’s locations, and a 30% national food discount at participating restaurants.
  • Access to education programs such as Archways to Opportunity for high school completion, college tuition support, and ESL classes.
  • Opportunity to attend world-class training and seminars.

Additional Information

This posting provides an overview of working at this McDonald’s franchise but does not list every job responsibility or task performed regularly. Applicants should understand that applying means engaging with the independent franchisee employer and consenting to their handling of employment processes without McDonald’s USA involvement.
