Job Overview
The General Helper plays a crucial role in assisting kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across kitchen and dining facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards. This safety-sensitive role requires drug and alcohol testing, along with a fitness assessment as employment conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform washing, scrubbing, cleaning, and sanitizing of designated kitchen and dining areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining room floors, tables, refrigerators, ovens, and other equipment.
- Wash pots, dishes, glasses, and cups after meals and as necessary.
- Conduct deep cleaning tasks when required.
- Restock and rotate desserts, sandwiches, beverages, and condiments.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing supplies and inventory.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and uphold quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least six months of experience in kitchen or catering roles within the food service, hospitality, or remote lodge environments.
- Proficiency in English with strong spoken and written communication abilities.
- Possession of FoodSafe Level I certification; advanced certifications like SafeCheck or HACCP are beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and organize work schedules effectively.
- Capability to achieve a minimum score of 80% on the mandatory WHMIS test.
