Role Overview
The General Helper plays a key role in supporting kitchen functions, primarily focusing on cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining kitchen and dining areas, equipment, and utensils to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, scrub, and sanitize designated kitchen tools, equipment, dishes, pots, and dining surfaces.
- Clean floors, tables, refrigerators, ovens, and kitchen appliances systematically.
- Execute deep cleaning procedures when needed.
- Restock and rotate items such as desserts, sandwiches, beverages, and condiments.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, and organizing supplies and inventory.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and quality standards throughout kitchen operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of six months' experience in a kitchen or catering environment within the food service, hospitality, or remote lodge sectors.
- Proficient in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of at least FoodSafe Level I certification; SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification is advantageous.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage work schedules.
- Required to achieve a minimum score of 80% on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) test.

- This position is safety sensitive and includes mandatory drug and alcohol testing as well as a fitness assessment before employment.
