General Counsel (APAC) - Internet Platform

About the Role

Our client is a publicly traded technology platform with a global presence and significant operations across Asia. This prominent position, based in Singapore, reports directly to the Global General Counsel located in the United States. The role involves leadership and hands-on involvement in critical legal matters affecting the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle a blend of regulatory, commercial, and corporate legal work, prioritizing regulatory advice and compliance.
• Provide regulatory support specifically related to product distribution, balancing commercial expansion with safeguarding the platform.
• Collaborate with internal teams including product development, deal execution, executive leadership, both regionally and worldwide.
• Coordinate with external parties such as regulatory agencies, government officials, and lobbying entities.
• Lead and supervise a team of accomplished legal and compliance experts, as well as oversee relationships with external counsels and consultancies.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with a common law legal background.
• Graduated from a tier 1 academic institution with prior experience in reputable law firms.
• Strong knowledge of technology sector regulations, with proven expertise in regulatory advisory roles throughout Asia.
• Experience in commercial and corporate legal matters is advantageous, yet regulatory proficiency remains primary.
• International exposure through education, overseas work, or within multinational corporations is preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder management capabilities, rated at top proficiency.
