Job description

Role Overview

As an Examiner for GCSE Computer Science based on the 2020 Specification, you will assess candidates' responses in accordance with a prescribed mark scheme while strictly observing examination regulations and recognition conditions. The majority of marking is completed using an online platform from home, though some subjects require traditional paper script marking via postal mail. Comprehensive subject knowledge is necessary to accurately apply the mark scheme. Each examiner receives an allotted batch of scripts to evaluate.

Important: Candidates must have prior experience with the Python programming language relevant to the 1CP2 02 unit to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Mark scripts with consistency and accuracy to uphold overall standard quality.
  • Submit marked samples to the Team Leader within the established deadlines.
  • Adhere strictly to marking milestones throughout the examination period.
  • Complete all requisite administrative duties as outlined.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least one academic year of teaching experience within the last eight years relevant to the qualification and subject.
  • A degree or equivalent academic qualification.
  • Recognition as a qualified teacher.
  • Demonstrable experience and competence in Python programming language.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines consistently.
  • In-depth subject knowledge required to accurately interpret and apply the marking criteria.

Additional Information

  • The marking phase extends from May through July.
  • Training related to examiner duties is scheduled between May and June.
