Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Gateman / Traffic Marshal to work on wastewater treatment projects located throughout Greater Manchester. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing site access and vehicle movements, ensuring safety and compliance across the locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control entry and exit of personnel and vehicles, allowing only authorized access.
- Verify CSCS cards, ensure inductions are completed, and manage visitor sign-in protocols.
- Serve as a banksman, safely guiding vehicles and plant equipment on-site.
- Direct deliveries to designated areas and coordinate with on-site teams.
- Maintain detailed records of site access and deliveries.
- Enforce the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for everyone entering the site.
- Monitor the entrance area to uphold safety, security, and smooth traffic flow.
- Report immediately any unauthorized access, unsafe actions, or incidents.
- Assist site teams with assorted duties as needed.
- Keep the gate area tidy, organized, and free from hazards.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental protocols at all times.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a valid CSCS card is mandatory.
- Certification as a Traffic Marshal or Banksman is required.
- Previous practical experience in a similar Gateman or Traffic Marshal role, preferably within construction, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Background in wastewater or water treatment operations is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with site personnel and visitors.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working autonomously.
- Ability to stay alert and handle multiple responsibilities in a busy work environment.
- Applicants must have reliable means of traveling to the work site independently.
