Gardener

Role Overview

As a Gardener at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Sharjah, your primary responsibility is to maintain the outdoor areas, ensuring the property remains visually pleasing and properly cared for. This includes upkeep of fountains, planters, flower beds, grassy areas, trees, shrubs, and the operation of irrigation systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect property grounds regularly to uphold an attractive appearance.
• Maintain and repair features such as fountains and planters by cleaning or replacing components.
• Plant new vegetation including flowers, bulbs, grass, trees, and shrubs; transplant and replace as needed.
• Preserve flower beds, baskets, and boxes using watering, pruning, weeding, and other maintenance tasks.
• Trim and prune trees and shrubs to keep them healthy and shaped.
• Perform detailed grass edging and mowing, including areas inaccessible to mowers.
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules.
• Collect and dispose of trash from exterior bins.
• Use dump trucks, tractors, trucks, or utility vehicles to transport materials and debris safely.
• Thoroughly clean, wash, and refuel all equipment after use.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies, report hazards or accidents, and complete required safety training.
• Maintain a professional and clean personal appearance, representing company standards.
• Support teamwork to achieve shared objectives while maintaining quality standards.
• Perform continual inspection of tools and equipment for defects or issues.
• Engage in physical activities such as standing or walking for prolonged periods, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, using fine motor skills, and navigating uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Manage seasonal tasks such as snow removal and ice control if applicable.
• Carry out any additional reasonable duties assigned by Supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of work experience in a related field.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• No supervisory experience required.
