Role Summary
We are looking for a Server to join our welcoming dining room team. This role supports meal service and dining area setup and cleanup within our retirement residence. Our dining experience fosters a sense of community, where mealtime is cherished as a time for sharing and companionship.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve meals professionally and courteously to residents and guests.
- Prepare dining tables and perform clearing duties and tray services as needed.
- Assist with washing dishware and cutlery after meal services.
- Help maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining spaces.
- Participate in catering activities and support special events and themed occasions.
- Assist in onboarding and training new culinary staff members.
- Adhere to health and safety laws and departmental safety procedures.
- Comply with all provincial regulations and internal departmental policies.
- Respect and promote resident rights and responsibilities.
- Attend required in-service training sessions to better serve residents.
- Participate in staff meetings to stay informed about residence updates.
- Engage in the Quality Improvement Program.
- Uphold the organization's ethical code, including integrity and morality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preference for candidates with prior experience in food service and working with seniors.
- Strong customer service skills are essential.
- Physical capability to lift and move heavy, hot items and to stand or walk for most of the shift.
- Second language proficiency is a plus.
- Possession of a current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within 6 months or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
