About the Role
The Fresh Clerk position at Community Natural Foods in Edmonton, AB, is a full-time onsite job focused on handling fresh and produce items with care while providing excellent customer service. This role requires individuals who are passionate about fresh, healthy foods, possess effective time management abilities, and have a warm, engaging personality to enhance customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle products using best practices to ensure customer safety and satisfaction.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, especially when using knives and equipment.
- Promptly merchandise products onto the sales floor to maintain availability.
- Follow established daily procedures for efficient completion of tasks.
- Rotate products correctly using FIFO (First In First Out) method and ensure accurate display of products and tags.
- Apply discounting procedures appropriately.
- Replenish stock in assigned sections as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of coolers, shelves, equipment, merchandising materials, and work areas including back rooms and sales floors; dispose of waste properly.
System Usage
- Utilize Community Natural Foods systems correctly and conform to company policies.
- Use technology and applications effectively to support operations.
- Assist in the rollout and adoption of new systems to optimize product handling.
Customer Service
- Welcome and interact with customers attentively, matching their interests.
- Communicate professionally with a friendly demeanor to foster positive experiences.
- Respond to customer inquiries or seek solutions when answers are not immediately available.
- Handle customer complaints effectively, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Promote sales, new products, cross-sell, and support store events and promotions.
Supervision and Reporting
This position reports directly to the Fresh Manager and works under daily guidance from Fresh Supervisors. Work is evaluated based on achievement of daily objectives and demonstration of relevant skills and attitudes.
Qualifications
- Preferably holds a High School diploma.
- Possesses 1-2 years of experience in retail.
- Familiarity with the natural foods industry and related products.
- Committed to product integrity and proper handling procedures.
- Organized, self-driven, and proactive in communicating concerns.
- Proficient with computers and able to adapt to technology.
- Strong customer service orientation with a positive and energetic attitude.
- Detail focused and attentive.
- Flexible with strong interpersonal skills suited for diverse work environments.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and work dependably under pressure.
- Displays high ethics and integrity.
- Knowledgeable in product details and capable of sales support.
