Job description
Role Overview
As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving meals while maintaining the quality and appearance of food served. Your duties include food prep, food storage, maintaining cleanliness, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
- Transport food items including pans, kettles, and trays between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators while adhering to safety protocols.
- Properly store food items in designated areas, following wrapping, labeling, dating, and rotation standards.
- Organize daily set-up of items available for purchase.
- Carry out general cleaning tasks and dispose of trash appropriately.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
- Follow approved recipes and production standards to ensure food quality, appropriate serving temperatures, and portion control; alert cooks if temperatures are unsafe.
- Serve customers courteously and efficiently, following specified service steps.
- Address and resolve customer concerns and communicate feedback to supervisors.
- Ensure adherence to sanitation and safety regulations at all times.
- Provide service across all retail locations, including cashier duties and line serving.
Qualifications
- Possession of FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
- Experience with cash registers is an advantage.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to handle a demanding workload.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Previous experience in food service within healthcare, hospitality, restaurant, or fast food sectors is beneficial.
- Physical capability to perform job responsibilities.
