Flight Dispatcher

About the Role

As a Flight Dispatcher at Etihad Airways, you will be central to ensuring flights are efficiently planned, monitored, and executed with the utmost safety. Operating within the Operations Control Centre, you will coordinate closely with pilots, air traffic control, maintenance teams, and various operational departments to keep flights on schedule in one of the world's fastest-growing airlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate and approve operational flight plans (OFPs) tailored to aircraft type, route, prevailing weather, and operational restrictions including fuel calculations and payload management.
• File ATS-compliant flight plans and equip flight crews with essential operational updates needed for safe execution.
• Continuously track flights during all phases and provide timely support and guidance, especially during irregular operations or unforeseen disruptions.
• Convey critical updates on weather, route changes, and airport conditions to flight teams, suggesting alternate routes and contingency planning as necessary.
• Assess weather bulletins, NOTAMs, airspace restrictions, and airport viability for safe and cost-effective operations, including flights traversing complicated airspace such as NAT HLA zones.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Control regarding MEL impacts and coordinate with other stakeholders like pilots, operation support, and air traffic services to address daily operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with GCAA regulations, company policies, and participate in ongoing training and emergency preparedness activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum high school diploma; bachelor's degree is preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Valid Flight Dispatcher Licence.
• A minimum of 5 years working in airline operations, including at least 3 years in flight dispatch roles.

Technical Competencies

• Sound knowledge of flight planning concepts and operational management.
• Ability to interpret meteorological data such as METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs, and NOTAMs.
• Experience using Lido Flight Planning software and AIMS system.
• Familiarity with Jeppesen Airways Manuals and navigation documentation.
• Knowledge of airline operational protocols and computerized flight planning tools.
• Proven skill in making operational decisions in a commercial aviation context.
