Flexera SAM Consultant Level 2

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant specializing in Flexera to manage daily SAM operations. This role acts as an intermediary between Level 1 end-user support and Level 3 expert/vendor escalations, focusing on optimizing software license management, ensuring compliance, and reducing software expenditure across on-premises, SaaS, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Creation of ELP (Effective License Position) manuals is essential.

Key Duties

• Administer enterprise software licensing portfolios for major vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, and various SaaS providers.
• Match actual software deployments with entitlements and license agreements to ensure accuracy.
• Detect and resolve issues such as license overallocation, unauthorized software installs, and under-licensing to avoid compliance penalties.
• Analyze software usage metrics to uncover opportunities for license reclamation, reuse, or optimization including strategies like co-term agreements.
• Support procurement and vendor management teams in contract monitoring, renewal tracking, and software decommissioning.
• Prepare recurring reports on compliance status, Effective License Position, usage trends, and performance for presenting to IT leadership.
• Ensure SAM processes comply with governance frameworks and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

• 3 to 6+ years of hands-on experience in Software Asset Management and software licensing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of complex licensing models including perpetual, subscription-based, SaaS, and cloud-consumption licenses.
• Practical experience with SAM tools such as Snow Software and Flexera One.
• Strong capabilities with Excel and other data analytics platforms.
• Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication abilities for managing interactions with stakeholders.

Preferred Certifications

• ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
• Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
