Job Overview
The Fleet Manager will oversee and coordinate a fleet of site accommodation assets including portable cabins, welfare units, and mobile offices. This position involves collaboration with departments such as Environmental Health and Safety, Transport, Business Development, Maintenance, and Finance, while also serving as a liaison for customers regarding contractual and logistical queries. Exceptional communication and multitasking capabilities are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep an accurate inventory of all units, detailing locations, conditions, and availability within the ERP system.
- Manage the movement of assets between depots and construction sites.
- Monitor unit usage rates to identify any underutilised or surplus assets.
- Ensure that each unit is appropriately tagged and identifiable.
- Review feedback from internal and external parties to drive continuous improvements.
- Coordinate procurement or manufacturing efforts for additional units as needed.
- Plan for fleet growth, replacement schedules, and disposal of units.
- Organise delivery, installation, relocation, and collection schedules efficiently.
- Communicate with transport providers and site teams to optimise scheduling and reduce transport expenses.
- Ensure timely delivery that meets site-specific requirements.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and spontaneous operational demands.
- Ensure safety policies are followed during transportation and installation of units.
- Promote adherence to safe work practices among staff and contractors.
- Oversee waste management, recycling, and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, site managers, and internal stakeholders.
- Understand client needs to appropriately allocate units.
- Provide clear updates on deliveries, delays, or issues.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Address customer queries, contract variations, and resolve disputes professionally.
Requirements
- Previous experience in managing a fleet of site accommodation units for hire.
- Exceptional written and spoken communication abilities.
- Highly organised with capacity to manage multiple simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experienced with ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail combined with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to site accommodation.
