Role Purpose
The Fire Fighter role entails rapid response to emergencies such as aircraft fires, structural fires, hazardous substances incidents, and medical crises within airport grounds. The key objective is to safeguard the lives of passengers, crew members, and airport staff by conducting firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency medical interventions.
Main Responsibilities
- Act swiftly to handle aircraft-related emergencies, building fires, health emergencies, hazardous material spills, and other urgent events occurring on airport premises.
- Execute firefighting and rescue procedures, alongside delivering emergency medical aid to protect people and property.
- Apply diverse fire suppression methods using water, foam, dry chemical agents, and other means.
- Conduct search and rescue missions in smoke-obscured or hazardous zones.
- Provide first aid and basic life support to injured or ill individuals pending arrival of advanced medical teams.
- Assist in safely transporting patients to healthcare facilities if required.
- Carry out routine inspections and upkeep of fire trucks, extinguishing equipment, and protective gear daily.
- Manage firefighting supplies inventory, ensuring all tools are ready for immediate use.
- Participate in regular emergency drills, ICAO-compliant trainings, and simulated response exercises.
- Document incident details, training sessions, and shift activities meticulously for compliance auditing.
- Follow all applicable firefighting laws, regulations, and SOPs rigorously to maintain safety and legality.
- Spot potential hazards during patrols and implement prompt corrective measures.
- Prepare thorough incident reports, maintain equipment logs, and submit necessary official documents on time.
- Work closely with airport operations, medical service teams, and external emergency responders during crises.
- Coordinate emergency operations and drills with Duty Managers, Air Traffic Control, and airport authorities.
Key Collaborators
Internal: Duty Manager - ARFF, Airport Operations Team, Security, Emergency Medical Services, ARFF Crew, Engineering & Maintenance, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE).
External: Local Fire Department, Airlines at the Airport, Ground Handlers, ARFF Equipment Providers, Insurance Firms, Community Leaders, Civil Aviation Authorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of a Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent qualification.
- Certification from a recognized firefighting academy is mandatory.
- Between two to three years of firefighting experience is required, preferably with background in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) operations.
