Job description
Role Overview
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining the fire alarm network including the Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP), Transceivers (FAT), and the Central Dispatching Center (Monaco D-21) to ensure proper functionality and serviceability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on installed fire detection and alarm systems following UFC 3-601-02, NFPA standards, and manufacturer's guidelines at least annually.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on fire detection, fire alarm, fire door, and mass notification systems to return them to full operational status as per relevant codes and instructions.
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls, aiming to arrive within 30 minutes after notification, with no tolerance for delays.
- Deliver quarterly training sessions to Air Force personnel on basic procedures to reset fire alarm panels and troubleshoot system components.
- Install new antenna masts on newly constructed facilities, connect and configure the fire alarm panels to the Monaco system, and verify communication with ECC Fire Dispatch.
- Provide technical guidance to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for proposed fire protection system work requests by other base agencies.
Qualifications & Education
- NICET Level II certification in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Registration, licensure or certification by local or state authorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Proficiency in English including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Competent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Possession of a valid US or local driver’s license and a US passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance, requiring US citizenship.
- Must meet and maintain CENTOM contract medical standards throughout deployment.
- Valid country visa per US Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide requirements.
Additional Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in delivering excellent customer service in a contract support role.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment while maintaining high performance standards.
Working & Living Conditions
This position involves working in challenging and potentially hazardous environments, including exposure to austere and extreme conditions. Physical requirements include heavy lifting (up to 40 pounds), climbing, crawling, and prolonged outdoor activity.
