About the Role
Amentum, a global leader delivering advanced engineering and professional services, is recruiting a Fire Alarm Dispatcher for a unique US Navy program located on Diego Garcia island. This critical position involves overseeing emergency response communications by monitoring fire alarm systems, handling emergency calls, and dispatching fire personnel promptly and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor fire alarm systems and respond swiftly to alarm signals following established emergency protocols.
- Promptly receive emergency calls, assess urgency, prioritize, and dispatch appropriate fire department teams to incidents.
- Utilize radios, telephones, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) tools to coordinate emergency response efforts effectively.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with responding teams, delivering timely updates throughout incidents.
- Precisely record incoming calls, dispatched units, and their actions in logs for documentation and reporting.
- Verify alarm system functionality regularly, identifying faults promptly and reporting for immediate correction.
- Support tracking of system alarms and scheduling maintenance activities to minimize downtime and preempt issues.
- Work collaboratively with Fire and Emergency Services to ensure seamless coordination during emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational credential.
- Certification in Telecommunicator I and II along with Hazmat Awareness as per applicable standards; new employees must obtain all certifications within the first 12 months to operate independently.
- Experience ranging from one to three years in emergency dispatch, fire communications, or related fields.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure and dispatch urgent responses accurately and quickly.
- Proficiency with communication devices such as radios and CAD systems.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills to ensure detailed dispatch documentation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to provide clear instructions and updates to responders.
- Capability to meet contract medical requirements and sustain compliance for the deployment duration.
- Eligibility to acquire and uphold facility credentials and authorizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating in challenging international environments (outside continental US) with diverse multinational teams.
- Presents a valid local driver’s license.
- Holds necessary country visa per U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide stipulations.
- Background in fire service dispatch support for government, military, or emergency organizations.
- Familiarity with fire and emergency dispatch protocols of the U.S. Navy or Department of Defense.
- Advanced certification or training related to emergency dispatch, communication technologies, or incident response procedures.
