Financial Controller

About the Role

An innovative and emerging retail company in Singapore is seeking a Financial Controller with substantial technical accounting expertise and a demonstrable history in transforming financial processes to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the CFO and overseeing a team of qualified finance professionals, you will manage all aspects of controllership and accounting. This includes financial and management reporting, consolidation of group financials, statutory compliance reporting, month-end and year-end closing activities, audit coordination, accounting policy management, internal controls, and financial governance.

A critical focus will be on enhancing the Finance operating framework to instill greater discipline, standardization, and efficiency in accounting processes.

As a senior leader within the Finance department, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to interpret accounting consequences related to business ventures, investments, and organizational changes, ensuring sound financial governance and adherence to compliance requirements.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate is a qualified Chartered Accountant bringing a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience, preferably within retail or consumer-facing sectors. You must have strong technical knowledge in accounting, including expertise in group financial reporting, consolidations, statutory reporting, financial control mechanisms, and audit processes.

Experience in driving Finance transformation projects, particularly involving improvements in accounting and controllership operations and leading process re-engineering at a regional scale, will be considered a significant advantage.

You should be a proactive and credible leader in Finance, balancing meticulous technical skills with a drive for continuous improvement. Attributes such as resilience, ambition, and a passion for talent development and building robust Finance capabilities will be critical for success.
