Opportunity Overview
MADE New Zealand, a vibrant and rapidly expanding food company known for brands such as The Collective, Moogurt, Rokeby, and Cocobella, is seeking a Financial Accountant. The company is committed to promoting healthy and enjoyable food with a values-driven and dynamic workplace. This role emerges as the current Financial Accountant relocates overseas and requires a professional to lead financial reporting, compliance, and control, while playing an integral part in boosting operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly and year-end close processes ensuring deadlines and accuracy.
- Prepare critical financial statements including P&L, balance sheets, cash flow, and detailed operational reporting.
- Maintain thorough balance sheet reconciliations and oversee financial controls.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and warehouse leadership to identify key performance drivers.
- Analyze variances in production, labor, overhead, logistics, and inventory costs.
- Support the budgeting cycle, forecasting efforts, capital expenditure assessments, and investment analysis.
- Coordinate and ensure compliance with tax requirements such as GST, income tax, PAYE, ACC, and FBT.
- Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements and assist with external audit processes.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, and general accounting functions.
- Serve as a principal SAP business lead and contribute to enhancements in systems and processes.
- Identify areas for improvement in efficiency, internal controls, automation, and working capital management.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a CA or CPA qualification.
- Experience includes working at a Big 4 accounting firm plus an additional 2-3 years in commercial financial accounting or reporting roles.
- Proven expertise in preparing P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Strong background in financial reporting, month-end and year-end accounting close.
- Expertise in statutory reporting, financial controls, and tax compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with operational business stakeholders effectively.
- Strong analytical talents to interpret financial data and transform it into actionable insights.
- Experience with ERP software, SAP experience particularly valued.
- A mindset oriented towards continuous improvement and a willingness to challenge current processes to streamline and implement best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments and manage cross-functional relationships.
