About the Role
KPMG New Zealand, part of the global KPMG network, is dedicated to delivering exceptional audit, tax, and advisory services. Within the Business Enablement division, the Finance team supports the firm’s five National offices across New Zealand, including Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, and Christchurch, by providing expert financial administration.
This role of Financial Accountant is a key member of the Finance team responsible for internal financial services and high-quality financial reporting, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This opportunity is ideal for those seeking to advance their accounting career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in compiling accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reports for the KPMG Executive and Board, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare statutory financial statements, semi-annual bank reports, global operating statistics, and Department of Statistics submissions. Support cash flow forecasting to inform strategic decisions.
- Manage general ledger functions, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Prepare and file GST and FBT tax returns in alignment with tax legislation and regulations.
- Support budgeting activities by providing critical inputs and data for budget forecasts and planning.
- Evaluate and improve internal financial processes and controls to boost operational efficiency within the Auckland team.
- Handle ad-hoc financial requests and issues promptly, review deliverables rigorously with the Finance Team, and manage urgent service demands effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Accounting.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting roles.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in advanced Excel and competency in MS Office; familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to perform well under pressure.
- Be a detail-oriented team player dedicated to continuous improvement.
