About Halter
Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and graziers with innovative technology to run more productive and sustainable operations. Our platform enables customers to manage large herds with ease, eliminating traditional constraints such as quad bikes, dogs, and fences, making grazing management smoother and more humane. Backed by leading global investors, Halter fosters a driven, high-performance culture focused on meaningful impact and continuous innovation.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Finance Systems Software Engineer focused on AI to enhance our finance technology stack, particularly around NetSuite and the enterprise performance management (EPM) tools. You will develop robust, AI-driven automation tools running in production environments to transform finance team workflows. This role combines technical expertise with a strong understanding of finance processes, requiring collaboration with FP&A and accounting teams to identify and automate valuable opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain AI-powered finance automations using platforms like enterprise Claude.
- Evaluate and leverage native AI features within NetSuite and EPM software to improve operations.
- Collaborate closely with finance teams to understand workflows and identify areas for automation.
- Deliver rapid solutions such as scripts or tools to alleviate bottlenecks when needed.
- Contribute to broader finance systems projects including platform upgrades and new market expansions.
- Work alongside the Senior Manager of Finance Systems to prioritize initiatives and provide subject matter expertise on AI and automation.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience deploying AI and automation tools into live production environments with ongoing support.
- Interest or background in accounting and finance, with readiness to assist during peak periods; no formal accounting qualification required.
- Strong judgment on where AI adds genuine value versus where it creates unnecessary complexity.
- Track record of end-to-end project ownership, from scoping through testing, implementation, and maintenance.
- Ability to thrive in a role that evolves over time, helping to shape its scope and impact.
- Excellent communication skills and patience to engage with non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with NetSuite, EPM/planning tools or eagerness to quickly gain proficiency.
- Experience with AI frameworks, agent tooling, or workflow orchestration technologies.
- Exposure to system implementations, user acceptance testing, or structured project management.
- Progress towards or completion of professional accounting certification (e.g., CA).
Working Culture and Benefits
- Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages to fuel your workday.
- Access to Southern Cross Health Insurance to support your physical and mental well-being.
- Generous parental leave benefits supporting primary and secondary caregivers.
- An annual personal development allowance of $1,000 to pursue growth opportunities.
- Unlimited paid leave and wellness leave for work-life balance.
- A competitive remuneration package combining salary, benefits, and ownership through employee stock options.
Office Environment
We prioritize in-person collaboration, believing strong relationships enhance growth and impact. While the default work mode is office-first at Auckland, we offer flexibility when necessary, trusting our team to choose what works best. The work atmosphere is energetic, supportive, and inspiring, fostering continuous innovation and learning.
Inclusion and Diversity
Halter is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive workplace where individuals can bring their authentic selves and achieve exceptional work. We encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification listed.
Why Work at Halter
- Engage in impactful work transforming farming and sustainability worldwide.
- Collaborate with talented, driven colleagues tackling significant challenges.
- Experience personal and professional growth supported by autonomy and learning resources.
- Join a fast-paced, challenging environment where innovation is rewarded.
