Finance Director

Company and Role Overview

We are collaborating with a forward-thinking financial technology and digital asset group located in Dubai, UAE, on appointing a Finance Director to lead its financial operations. The group operates at the convergence of blockchain infrastructure, institutional finance, and Shariah-compliant investment products. Transitioning from product development to commercial expansion, this role entails building the financial framework necessary for such growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the annual budgeting process alongside continuous 12- and 24-month rolling forecasts.
• Implement monthly financial reviews, quarterly reforecasting, and support the board’s annual planning activities.
• Conduct stress testing of forecasts against various scenarios including revenue streams, digital asset valuation fluctuations, and operational costs.
• Create a unified financial model providing visibility across multiple business entities and lines.
• Establish reliable commercial reporting, treasury, and accounting systems to deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial updates and reviews.
• Design and implement a KPI framework to equip the executive team with actionable business insights.
• Lead ownership of profit and loss at entity, product, and market levels; define unit economics and ensure accountability for financial outcomes among business leaders.
• Identify financial variances such as margin leakages or revenue gaps and recommend corrective measures.
• Formulate a credible, board-approved pathway toward sustained profitability, including milestone setting and performance tracking.
• Advise leadership on capital deployment, market expansion, and investment strategies while managing multi-currency treasury operations spanning fiat and digital assets.
• Maintain rigorous financial controls tailored to a regulated digital assets environment, overseeing audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory and Islamic finance standards.
• Support commercial finance functions including financial modeling for new ventures, investment assessments, fundraising activities, and due diligence processes.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• A professional with 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in finance, with deep involvement in commercial finance beyond compliance and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience working within UAE or GCC markets, familiar with local banking systems and regulation.
• Proven track record in establishing financial processes in scale-up or fast-growing companies.
• Proficiency in forecasting, profit and loss management, reporting, and advanced financial modeling.
• Possession of recognized qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CFA.
• Solid understanding of digital assets, token economics, decentralized finance, and digital asset treasury management.
• Ability to operate independently without a fully formed team or system infrastructure.
• Preferred experience includes fintech, digital banking, asset management, exchanges, institutional trading, or other regulated financial services environments.
• Knowledge of DIFC, ADGM, or VARA regulations, Islamic finance, fundraising, M&A, and multi-entity group finance is an advantage.
• Arabic language skills are a plus but not essential.

Performance Expectations

Within the initial three months, the Finance Director is expected to evaluate the financial standing, close reporting and data gaps, consolidate monthly reports, and establish ongoing forecasting aligned with actuals tracking. Throughout the first year, they will secure board approval for profitability plans, promote profit and loss ownership, prepare for audits and capital raises, and initiate the development of a scalable finance team.
