Finance Controller / Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a Finance Controller / Head of Finance to lead the finance operations at Habanero Foods. This role demands high accountability in a dynamic and fast-growing entrepreneurial setting, where you will autonomously oversee the core finance activities and collaborate closely with the founder and CFO. Key focus areas include accounting, financial reporting, MIS, AR/AP, inventory, cash flow forecasting, cash management, compliance, financial controls, and commercial finance. The position also offers the chance to build and lead a growing finance team as the company expands.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily finance and accounting operations ensuring month-end closure and accuracy of records.
• Produce monthly financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and management MIS reports.
• Ensure precise accounting for revenues, expenses, inventory, receivables, and payables.
• Improve accounting workflows and financial systems while coordinating with auditors and tax consultants.
• Lead monthly MIS reporting, perform budget and forecast variance analysis, and develop KPIs and dashboards to enable data-driven decisions.
• Forecast cash flow weekly and monthly, maintain rolling forecasts, identify funding gaps, and drive working capital efficiency.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, managing collections, payments, reconciliations, credit policies, and dispute resolution.
• Conduct financial reconciliations across quick-commerce and marketplace platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, Amazon, and Flipkart; monitor platform-specific revenue and margins; and enhance reconciliation processes.
• Manage inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, analyze product gross margins and costs, monitor wastage, and support costing for new products.
• Participate in budgeting, rolling forecasts, financial modeling for new initiatives, and profitability analysis to support strategic pricing and marketing decisions.
• Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements; coordinate audits; and implement strong internal controls and process automation.
• Build and mentor the finance team, define clear processes, and scale finance operations to support growth.

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant preferred; CMA or MBA (Finance) with significant relevant expertise also considered.
• Solid foundational knowledge in accounting and finance.

Experience

• 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in finance, accounts, or financial control.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in D2C, FMCG, food & beverage, e-commerce, consumer brands, or quick commerce sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage finance functions.
• Experience with marketplace platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, Amazon, or Flipkart is highly desirable.
• Expertise in AR/AP, inventory accounting, working capital, and cash flow management.
• Experience thriving in high-growth entrepreneurial environments.

Technical Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
• Experience with ERP and accounting software such as Zoho Books or Tally.
• In-depth understanding of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
• Skilled in MIS reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Strong grasp of inventory and cost accounting principles.
• Capability to construct and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts.
