Role Overview
The Finance Business Partner will support Musgrave's MarketPlace sites and Central Support functions in all financial control and commercial growth activities. As a vital commercial finance advisor, you will collaborate closely with the Wholesale Business team, including the Marketplace Sales Director and General Manager, to drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead timely weekly financial reporting with insightful analysis.
- Coordinate and review management accounts, guiding finance colleagues to ensure high-quality financial data.
- Deliver commercially focused communication highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead quarter-end and year-end accrual, prepayment, and account reconciliation processes.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key operational stakeholders in Marketplace and Central Support teams.
- Provide detailed commercial finance analysis on weekly and periodic business performance.
- Support operational projects, cost control, business planning, Capex management, and branch performance reviews to improve profit before tax.
- Own budgeting and forecasting activities, collaborating with budget holders, challenging targets, and aiding margin improvements.
- Contribute to the development and usage of the Anaplan planning tool.
- Present budget and forecast data to stakeholders and assist longer-term strategic business planning, productivity reviews, and efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, focusing on branch-related payroll, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
- Ensure reconciliations are complete, accurate, and well supported; escalate any unusual or unresolved items.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to finance colleagues to maintain ownership and explanations in reconciliations.
- Promote optimizations and continuous improvement in outsourced finance processes.
- Support audit activities by supplying clear reconciliations and documentation.
- Champion transformational change by embracing new finance technologies, automation, and digital tools.
- Drive process standardization, improvement, and foster innovation within finance operations.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA) with over five years’ experience in a related finance role.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and a complex workload.
- Excellent communication and influencing capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail combined with systems-oriented thinking.
- Effective commercial problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, dedicated, and eager to adopt new working practices and processes.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Co-Pilot.
- Experience in Wholesale, Retail, or Foodservice industries is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems is a plus.
