Field Service Engineer - Semiconductor Industry

Overview

We are seeking multiple Field Service Engineers to join a reputable service provider that supports the semiconductor manufacturing industry at one of Europe's largest semiconductor plants located in Leixlip, County Kildare. This full-time, permanent role involves working in a highly technical and fast-paced environment alongside professionals in electronic, automation, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The engineers will support advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment and systems within a world-class cleanroom facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and validate semiconductor manufacturing equipment according to OEM guidelines and cleanroom protocols.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, calibrations, and servicing to ensure equipment uptime and dependability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, automation, and process-related issues on semiconductor capital equipment.
• Perform corrective maintenance and lead root cause analysis to implement lasting technical solutions.
• Participate in upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement projects across the production site.
• Collaborate closely with process engineers, equipment engineers, and production teams to optimize equipment functionality and yield.
• Maintain comprehensive service documentation, maintenance logs, and technical reports compliant with quality and regulatory standards.
• Adhere strictly to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), cleanroom, and contamination prevention standards.
• Offer technical assistance and operational guidance to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Engage in on-call support and escalation for critical manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate with global engineering and technical support personnel to resolve complex challenges.
• Support spare parts management, ensuring availability of essential components for service activities.
• Identify and propose enhancements to boost equipment reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, and semiconductor manufacturing standards and policies.

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree (Level 7) in Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines; alternatively, Level 6 trade qualifications combined with extensive relevant semiconductor or manufacturing maintenance experience will be considered.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, automation, medical device, pharmaceutical, or high-tech manufacturing settings is advantageous.
• Recent engineering graduates with strong technical capabilities and enthusiasm for semiconductor technologies are welcome to apply.
• Proven troubleshooting expertise across electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with precision instrumentation, diagnostic equipment, test fixtures, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of cleanroom environments and high-volume manufacturing operations is beneficial.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within an engineering team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows software platforms.
• Possession of a full driving license (Irish, UK, EU, or International) is mandatory due to potential overseas training travel.

• These roles may include international travel to the USA or Taiwan for OEM training and certification.
