F&B Assistant

About the Role

The Ellison Hotel in Castlebar is looking to hire an F&B Assistant who will actively participate in daily operations within the Bar, Restaurant, Events, and other related areas. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop hospitality skills while contributing to a dynamic and dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage food and beverage operations including the Restaurant, Bar, and Events to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Surpass customer and guest expectations through attentive service and quality care.
• Perform daily tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and maintaining cleanliness and order in all food and beverage sections, ensuring the venue is always tidy and welcoming.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to foster a cohesive working environment.
• Take initiative in daily activities and strive to enhance operational efficiencies continuously.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of the menu offerings and all food items.
• Be familiar with the wine and beverage selections, including cocktails, and actively use suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest experience.
• Address guest complaints promptly and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary.
• Work towards maximizing guest satisfaction and garnering positive feedback consistently.
• Partner with management to maintain high standards of food and beverage areas.
• Adhere strictly to all established policies, procedures, and standards relevant to the food and beverage operations.
• Process all sales through the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately.
• Apply effective stock management procedures, including proper rotation to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Complete all bar operational checklists as directed by management on an hourly, daily, or weekly schedule.
• Ensure all customer questions and concerns are addressed and communicated to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a professional appearance by upholding immaculate grooming standards and wearing the designated uniform or business attire and name badge at all times.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other management team members.

Qualifications and Experience

• Thorough understanding of the Food and Beverage menus offered.
• Awareness of allergens and dietary considerations.
• Previous experience in a Food and Beverage role is advantageous but not mandatory.
