Facility Services General Maintenance Technician (USA)

About the Role

Walmart is actively seeking a General Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our local and regional teams, providing essential maintenance services in a retail environment. This position focuses on maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart stores, equipment, and fixtures while working under the guidance of the local General Maintenance Manager. The role requires adherence to scheduled maintenance protocols and involves performing inspections, cleaning, and repairs.

Primary Duties

• Carry out maintenance and repairs on store facilities and various equipment using multiple trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling, and food equipment.
• Use hand and power tools along with other equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Utilize the work order management system to receive and document reactive repair work orders supporting store operations.
• Conduct inspections and tests on facilities, equipment, and fixtures to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Complete necessary training to safely operate tools and machinery.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights frequently (including ladder use), and sit or stand for extended periods.
• Adapt to working in various temperature conditions.
• Hold a valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
• Possess vocational or technical certification paired with at least one year of experience, or alternatively two years of relevant work experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trades.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year vocational or technical trade program.
• Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Relevant city or state trade license where the job is located.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

• Competitive pay ranging between $26.00 and $51.00 per hour, with additional premiums up to $3.00 per hour depending on scheduling and other factors.
