Job description
Overview
The Facility & Maintenance Officer is entrusted with maintaining the organization's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance. This role involves hands-on maintenance, collaboration with external contractors, and facilitating seamless operations within both internal and external locations.
Key Duties
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure to detect and address potential issues.
- Perform and manage minor repairs related to electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and staff complaints to resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure all building systems such as lighting, signage, HVAC controls, and elevators are fully operational and swiftly address any faults to minimize disruptions.
- Oversee cleanliness, organization, and general upkeep of internal and external environments.
- Manage essential utilities including lighting, water supply, ventilation, and drainage to guarantee continuous functionality.
- Keep accurate inventory records for tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Assist with office space planning, relocations, and event preparations as required.
- Coordinate and monitor third-party contractors for services like cleaning, pest control, landscaping, and repairs, ensuring adherence to contracts and standards.
- Facilitate contractor access and support on-site to promote efficient work completion.
- Support procurement activities related to facility materials and services.
- Perform regular safety inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with fire safety, building codes, and occupational health regulations.
- Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises to bolster workplace safety.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, incidents, and inspections to track facility conditions.
- Monitor utility consumption and report any inefficiencies for corrective action.
- Provide logistical support for daily operations and facility improvement projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Facility Management or a Technical Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of three years' experience in building maintenance, facility management, or comparable roles.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair infrastructure and equipment issues.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude with capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Physical capability to perform hands-on maintenance jobs involving lifting and climbing.
