About the Role
Join the Infrastructure and Assets Group at Hamilton City Council, which is committed to delivering robust infrastructure and valuable services to benefit our community now and in the future. As a Facilities Technical Specialist, you will work closely with the Facilities Technical Manager to provide both technical guidance and practical support across a wide array of city buildings and facilities. Your role will involve identifying and solving issues, enhancing building system performance, and ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments for staff and community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in condition assessments and other facility-related projects.
- Troubleshoot faults and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure high-quality completion of work.
- Ensure facilities comply with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute ideas to boost reliability, efficiency, and long-term asset outcomes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Trade or tertiary qualification in building construction, facilities or asset management, programme or project management, electrical/mechanical engineering, or related field.
- At least five years of experience in strategic, planned, or technical facilities management.
- Strong knowledge of building infrastructure and compliance necessities.
- Experience engaging with contractors and service providers to define technical building requirements.
- Proficiency with asset management systems, Excel, and technical documentation.
- Experience in local government or public sector roles is preferred but not mandatory.
Desired Attributes
- Awareness of sustainability and energy efficiency in technical facility operations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications when liaising with external providers.
- Dedication to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and an understanding of Te Ao Māori in service delivery.
