Overview
Join a major multinational client's account in Hamilton as a Facilities Manager, with abundant prospects to advance within the company. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth functioning of both soft and hard facility services, providing a safe, efficient workplace that supports the organization's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement best practice procedures to meet and improve team KPIs and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain facility management procedural systems including operations and maintenance plans, contingency, and escalation protocols.
- Optimize use and allocation of facility space for maximum effectiveness.
- Manage everyday operations covering reception, security, cleaning, catering, waste, fleet, landscaping, and parking services.
- Supervise repair and maintenance activities by technicians and contractors, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
- Design and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program including lifecycle requirements.
- Coordinate moves, adds, and changes (MAC) activities within the facility.
- Prepare and review budgets, contracts, expenditures, and procurement activities, ensuring cost efficiency and contract compliance.
- Manage vendor relationships, including training on procedures, safety standards, and billing; verify contractor performance against contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular compliance inspections to uphold environmental health and safety standards.
- Lead, train, and develop the site team through goal setting, performance monitoring, and motivation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional stress management skills, capable of managing multiple urgent issues and emergency situations effectively. They must be able to independently oversee both on-site and remote facilities, collaborate with dispersed teams and vendors, and allocate resources efficiently. Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—along with intermediate financial knowledge and analytical capabilities are essential.
Additional competencies include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with architectural, electrical, and mechanical systems, and familiarity with leases, contracts, project management, procurement, and health and safety regulations. A background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems is advantageous.
Education & Experience
Applicants should have at least a college degree or higher, preferably with business, technical, or management focus, and a minimum of four years' relevant experience. Prior supervisory roles are preferred. Facility Management certification is advantageous.
