Facilities Custodian

Overview

The Facilities Custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the distribution center, ensuring a safe and orderly work environment for all employees. This position supports efficient operation flows by adhering to high cleanliness standards with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of Distribution and Crossdock operation zones following company standards.
• Operate various power cleaning equipment including walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polishers, wet/dry vacuum cleaners, and both portable and stationary pressure washers.
• Perform external grounds maintenance duties as required.
• Clean and properly store equipment after each use to ensure readiness and longevity.
• Report any major building or equipment repair needs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Order cleaning supplies and equipment needed to fulfill maintenance tasks effectively.
• Empty trash and recycling containers in kitchens and office spaces, ensuring proper waste disposal.
• Restock bathroom essentials such as paper towels, toilet paper, soaps, sanitizers, and air fresheners regularly.
• Keep common areas including kitchens and breakrooms clean through wiping, polishing, and cleaning various surfaces and appliances.
• Rotate work assignments across departments to support fluctuating business demands.
• Engage in continuous training related to technological updates and new system implementations relevant to custodial responsibilities.
• Complete all tasks assigned by leadership to meet daily quality and productivity targets.

Candidate Profile

• Capability to operate power cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Physically capable of performing demanding tasks that involve walking, standing, climbing stairs, and attention to environment.
• Ability to multitask including repetitive manual motions while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Familiarity with janitorial supplies, chemicals, including handling of hazardous materials responsibly.
• Understand and utilize available training and communication resources related to the job.
• Consciousness of security, loss prevention, and safety protocols aligned with company guidelines and policies.
• Basic proficiency in English is preferred for effective communication.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum of one year in housekeeping or janitorial roles is favored.
