Role Overview

The Facilities Cleanroom Technician plays a vital role in managing the daily operations, monitoring, and basic maintenance of cleanroom environments and associated systems. This ensures the production settings remain safe, stable, and reliable. The position supports the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer by executing preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting in continuous improvements within cleanroom facilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect and monitor important cleanroom environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, ESD levels, AMC, pressure differentials, and cleanliness classifications.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, logs, checklists, and reports related to cleanroom and facility systems.
  • Immediately report any abnormalities or deviations from specified standards to the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer or supervisor.
  • Operate and help maintain HVAC and air conditioning systems, Fan Filter Units, ionizers and ESD controls, indoor air quality monitoring systems, building components, and lighting installations under engineer supervision.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and cleaning tasks per established protocols.
  • Assist in diagnosing system malfunctions, performing basic corrective actions, and part replacements.
  • Respond swiftly to production floor alarms, requests, and cleanroom facility issues.
  • Support containment protocols during environmental or facility incidents as directed.
  • Provide detailed observations and data to aid root cause investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Strictly adhere to maintenance procedures, safety policies, and operational work instructions.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, job checklists, and reports accurately and punctually.
  • Help update equipment history, maintenance records, and manage spare parts usage.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Support the inventory management of spare parts and consumables, including receiving, labeling, storage, and distribution.
  • Monitor and communicate stock conditions and usage to facilitate timely replenishment.
  • Supervise and coordinate external contractors during maintenance, repairs, and projects in the cleanroom and facility zones ensuring compliance with safety and cleanroom protocols.
  • Assist in various improvement, system upgrades, retrofits, and layout adjustments during shutdown activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderly housekeeping standards within the cleanroom and support areas.
  • Promote and comply with safety measures, risk controls, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Engage in safety audits, 5S practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess a NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Building Services, or related fields.
  • Experience in facilities, building services, or cleanroom operations within a manufacturing environment is beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, air distribution methods, and cleanroom operational concepts is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret fundamental technical drawings, equipment manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated hands-on aptitude in equipment servicing and routine troubleshooting.
  • Strong responsibility ethics with meticulous attention to procedure compliance.
  • Problem-solving orientation and eagerness to learn from senior technical staff.
  • Availability for call-in duty as required.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork to liaise effectively with engineers, production teams, and contractors.
  • Positive, proactive attitude focused on safety in a dynamic cleanroom manufacturing setting.
