Role Overview

Joining UGL's Fuels & Energy East division offers an opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects vital to Australia's energy infrastructure. Painters invited to express interest will engage with bulk storage, fuels, refining, and terminal infrastructure projects as part of a skilled team delivering key solutions for critical assets.

This role allows exposure to a wide array of fuel terminals, storage sites, refining infrastructure, brownfield upgrades, asset integrity initiatives, capital projects, and operational supports. Collaboration with industry experts will enable development across the entire asset lifecycle including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Surface preparation for coatings using abrasive blasting, power tools, sanding, and approved techniques
• Application of protective coatings to storage tanks, structural steel, piping, loading facilities, and related infrastructure adhering to project and industry standards
• Perform coating inspections including wet and dry film thickness measurements and condition assessments ensuring quality compliance
• Operate and maintain painting, blasting, and coating equipment with strict adherence to safety, environmental, and permit-to-work protocols
• Identify and report corrosion, defects, and deterioration to support asset integrity, working closely with supervisors and inspection teams
• Collaborate with maintenance, construction, and shutdown teams to safely and efficiently deliver coatings within project timelines

Candidate Profile

• Trade-qualified Painter, Blaster/Painter or equivalent with proven industrial painting and surface preparation experience
• Experience in fuel terminals, bulk storage, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, energy, mining, or heavy industrial environments
• In-depth understanding of coating systems, abrasive blasting, corrosion protection, and preparation standards
• Competent in applying coatings to tanks, structural components, piping, and process equipment per specifications and quality standards
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures including permit-to-work, confined space, working at heights, and hazardous area protocols
• Dependable team player with a keen eye for detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship, capable of thriving in maintenance, shutdown, and project teams
