Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Scientist to join our Biotherapeutics R&D team located in Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland. This role focuses on supporting development programs and analytical activities within the Separation Sciences group. The position entails executing biotherapeutic projects, conducting rigorous analytical testing, transferring and validating methods, and ensuring laboratory operations comply with GMP standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct both routine and specialized analytical testing adhering to laboratory protocols.
• Review and analyze test outcomes, ensuring timely completion and approvals.
• Detect trends in results and promptly report any deviations or inconsistencies.
• Assist with Biotherapeutics R&D development projects as a contributing scientist.
• Perform method transfer and validation to comply with ICH, CFR, USP, and EP standards.
• Initiate and support non-conformance investigations and contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and software.
• Participate in qualification protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) to certify equipment for GMP use.
• Maintain calibration and preventive maintenance schedules for instruments and equipment.
• Draft and review technical documentation including SOPs, methods, work instructions, and reports.
• Recommend and implement procedural improvements to foster a culture of continuous enhancement.
• Maintain compliance through up-to-date training and adhere to effective procedures.
• Support audit preparation and laboratory general operations as needed.
• Collaborate as an active team member, communicating issues and supporting broader departmental activities.
• Mentor junior colleagues in technical skills and laboratory processes.
• Demonstrate Johnson & Johnson’s values and leadership principles in daily work.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or higher degree in a scientific or technical field.
• 2 to 4 years of laboratory experience in analytical development, biologics, or pharmaceutical sectors.
• Experience at Scientist level with progressive responsibilities preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements from FDA, EMA, and other bodies relevant to biologics and pharmaceuticals.
• Experience working in GMP/cGMP lab environments including analytical testing and method validation.
• Strong understanding of scientific principles applied in biological or pharmaceutical testing methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with capability to collaborate across functional teams.
• Commutability to the Ringaskiddy, Cork site is essential.

Preferred Skills

• Background in Separation Sciences within biopharmaceutical or biologics analytical development.
• Experience managing non-conformances, deviations, and CAPA processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset.
• Ability to coach peers and influence within a diverse organizational environment.
