About the Role
Due to one of our team members taking time off to travel, we have a vacancy starting from 1st November. This is an excellent chance for a driven and skilled farm assistant or herd manager to become part of our family-owned and operated farm situated in picturesque Te Aroha in the Waikato region of New Zealand.
Our farm milks approximately 980 cows utilizing a state-of-the-art 70 bail rotary shed. We employ collars for monitoring animal health to ensure optimum care. Daily responsibilities cover a broad range of farm operations including milking, managing animal health, maintaining pastures, raising calves, feeding, effluent handling, as well as farm repair and maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of daily milking and animal husbandry with attention to high standards of care.
- Operate tractors and various farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards for the shed, farm grounds, and living accommodations.
- Manage pasture growth and calf rearing effectively.
- Carry out feeding, effluent management, and undertake general maintenance and repairs around the farm.
- Collaborate reliably as a motivated team player while demonstrating a positive, can-do attitude.
- Show willingness to learn and advance within the dairy industry.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience milking cows and solid skills in animal husbandry.
- Proven experience operating tractors and farm machinery.
- Commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards in all working and living areas.
- Reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented work approach.
- A team-oriented mindset with eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the dairy sector.
