Job description

Overview

Join the Economics Division (ECD) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, which provides economic surveillance, forecasting, research, and policy analysis to guide policymaking. The division also operates a Resource Centre offering library and information services to support ECD and MTI officers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily Resource Centre tasks such as addressing user inquiries, handling loans, returns, reservations, distributing newspapers, and facilitating access to information resources.
  • Maintain physical collections and the centre’s environment by processing new publications, shelving, shelf-reading, coordinating with suppliers, and assisting in stocktakes and collection reductions.
  • Oversee digital content management, including uploading publications to the intranet, updating SharePoint e-Alerts, preparing electronic mailers, and sharing relevant information alerts.
  • Conduct basic research and information gathering to assist ECD and MTI officers.
  • Provide administrative support related to the Resource Centre, maintain records, update information for new staff, and aid in outreach and engagement activities.
  • Assist with administrative and coordination tasks to support ECD’s operations, knowledge management, and backend processes.
  • Adapt to varying roles involving information, statistical, and administrative duties to meet the evolving needs of ECD’s operations and research.

Candidate Profile

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple operational and administrative responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Availability and willingness to work onsite at the office daily.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and SharePoint platforms; knowledge of library operations, information resource or data management is advantageous.
  • Holds a diploma or equivalent credential, ideally accompanied by at least two years of relevant experience in information services, administrative duties, or operational support.
