Job Overview
This role involves evaluating candidate responses for GCSE Statistics based on the 2017 Specification. Examiners apply established marking schemes and follow strict examination protocols. Most marking is typically done digitally via ePEN from home, though a minority of subjects require handling physical scripts sent by post. A profound understanding of the subject matter is essential to fairly and accurately award marks. Examiners will be assigned a predetermined number of scripts to assess.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently and precisely mark scripts to maintain overall quality and standards.
- Submit sample marked scripts to the Team Leader at prescribed intervals.
- Adhere strictly to designated deadlines for marking milestones.
- Complete all necessary administrative processes as directed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of one academic year of relevant teaching experience within the last eight years.
- Experience must be in the subject area pertinent to the qualification.
- Teaching experience should be post initial teacher certification.
- Possession of a degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Status as a qualified teacher.
Competencies Required
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong adherence to timelines and deadlines.
- Comprehensive subject knowledge to apply marking schemes effectively.
Additional Details
- The marking window occurs annually from May to July.
- Mandatory examiner training sessions will be conducted between May and June.
