Overview
Join Green Infrastructure Partners to contribute to shaping the future where our projects positively impact the world. We are seeking an Estimator based in Timmins, Ontario, who will report directly to the Senior Director, North Region. This role entails preparing comprehensive cost analyses using industry-standard estimating software, covering all facets of projects including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor components, while ensuring tender submissions meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and tender documents accurately interpreting project drawings and specifications.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and develop cost formulations for labor, materials, and machinery.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor scopes and pricing; review sub-proposals critically.
- Ensure precise tender closure and compliance with submission requirements including bid bonds and insurance.
- Organize and maintain all tender files and related correspondence actively.
- Support project controls and operations by creating initial schedules and assessing costs related to project changes or claims.
- Monitor ongoing projects to track and analyze costs, offering technical assistance to onsite teams.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and field personnel.
- Foster departmental growth and client relations via follow-ups on proposals, adherence to policies, and mentoring newer staff members.
- Perform various other duties as assigned to support the team and company objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completed University Degree in Civil Engineering or a College Diploma in Civil Technology is preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency with commercial bidding platforms, preferably InEight Estimate.
- Strong capability to read and interpret construction drawings and documentation.
- Experience dealing with Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) contracts and municipal construction projects.
- Sound knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications (OPSS) and Canadian Detailed Estimating Data (CDED).
- Advanced computer skills, especially with estimating software, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Demonstrated results orientation with capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Critical thinker with a focus on outcomes, able to analyze and envision improvements across operations.
- Good interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse viewpoints and stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated annual salary range from $75,000 to $105,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and other factors.
