Job description
Overview
A prominent construction contractor is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to contribute to the delivery of a significant office refurbishment at the Port of Cork in Cork City, along with various smaller commercial projects across West Cork. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with solid commercial expertise to oversee project budgets, aid procurement activities, and collaborate closely with project teams on refurbishment and construction assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cost control across commercial refurbishment projects.
- Develop budgets, estimate costs, and prepare tender documents.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, process payments, and handle contract variations.
- Prepare interim valuations and finalize project accounts.
- Track project expenses, budgets, and future financial forecasts.
- Conduct site visits and measurements as needed.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Keep precise commercial documentation and reports.
- Assist in contract administration and related commercial decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on construction or refurbishment projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cost control methods, contracts, and commercial procedures.
- Capability to handle subcontractor packages and valuations efficiently.
- Strong numerical aptitude, analytical thinking, and negotiation skills.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
- Valid full driving licence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from €60,000 to €70,000 per annum.
