Job description
Role Overview
The Dispatcher reports to the Regional Director and is integral in managing the allocation and scheduling of trucks and equipment to optimize fleet utilization across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch company-owned and hired trucks, equipment, and floats to various project locations.
- Coordinate with other dispatchers to address trucking and equipment requirements efficiently.
- Manage necessary permitting including annual and single trip permits for oversize and overweight vehicles.
- Collaborate with operations managers, superintendents, and forepersons to ensure balanced resource distribution and participate in weekly meetings.
- Provide support and handle queries from field personnel.
- Resolve disputes related to hired broker rental tickets.
- Maintain accurate daily operational records and assist with administrative duties.
- Assist with haul rate inquiries and annual trucking rental rate assessments.
- Manage supplies of small tools and safety equipment.
- Commit to and promote safety policies in all work environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dispatching trucks and equipment within the construction sector.
- Familiarity with trucking operations or industrial yard environments.
- Knowledgeable in CVOR regulations and safety compliance.
- High school diploma required.
- Valid driver's license with capability to travel to various company sites.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer applications and basic mathematics.
- Results-oriented mindset capable of thriving in a fast-paced workplace.
- Critical thinker who can analyze situations to drive continuous business improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Resourceful and versatile in problem-solving and managing competing tasks.
