Role Summary

The Estimator for Mobile Plant Maintenance will be based full-time on-site within the Greater Perth Area. This role entails producing precise costings for maintenance, overhaul, and rebuild projects involving heavy mobile plant and earthmoving machinery. Daily activities include scrutinising work scopes and technical documents, determining labour, parts, and subcontractor needs, and preparing comprehensive quotations and proposals. Collaboration with maintenance supervisors, trades personnel, and procurement teams is essential to verify job requirements, revise costs, and ensure estimates reflect operational realities and client expectations. The position also requires tracking project progress relative to estimates, updating projections, maintaining estimating tools and databases, and supporting initiatives to enhance pricing accuracy and efficiency.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in estimating or planning maintenance activities for mobile plant or heavy equipment with expertise in earthmoving machinery and component rebuilds.
  • Competency in interpreting technical drawings, OEM manuals, work scopes, and engineering specifications pertinent to mobile plant maintenance.
  • Familiarity with estimating and maintenance management software, as well as skill in spreadsheet use and data analysis for forecasting costs, labour, and material needs.
  • Strong numerical aptitude, analytical capabilities, and meticulousness in preparing quotations and detailed project cost breakdowns.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to effectively coordinate with workshop teams, procurement departments, and clients.
  • Solid awareness of safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance obligations within heavy industry and workshop settings.
  • Possession of relevant trade qualifications such as heavy diesel mechanic or fitter certificates, or tertiary qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying, or related fields is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working in the mining, construction, or resources industries within the Greater Perth Area or similar sectors is beneficial.
