Role Summary
We are seeking an Estimator to join our team based in Austin, Texas. This role involves analyzing construction blueprints and related documents to prepare comprehensive estimates covering time, costs, materials, and labor for residential construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantity take-offs to develop detailed estimates according to architectural drawings and project specifications.
- Evaluate Invitations to Bid (ITB) to confirm scope qualifications.
- Interpret architectural plans and specifications to accurately establish project needs.
- Maintain updated computer databases containing pricing, estimates, and item details.
- Authorize and process purchase orders that exceed budgeted amounts.
- Support the upkeep of take-offs, cost data, and contract pricing.
- Assist with cost negotiation activities.
- Handle communications from potential new vendors and internal field personnel.
- Solicit and analyze vendor quotations.
- Conduct all business activities professionally and ethically to enhance customer satisfaction and company profitability.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working overtime when necessary.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent from a technical school or two-year college required.
- Between 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in residential construction estimation or comparable training.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Proficiency in MS Office and email communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university favored.
- Familiarity with specialized estimating software such as Blue Beam.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
