Role Overview

We are seeking a Project Estimator responsible for managing the entire construction bidding process with accuracy and dedication, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This role requires a proactive, self-reliant individual who thrives on collaboration and effective communication across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and integrate Eleven Western Builders’ services, estimating processes, procedures, and business lines.
  • Understand and apply the estimating process including plan reviews, trade setups, subcontractor invitations, drafting pre-bid inquiries, budgeting general conditions, and reviewing bids for precision.
  • Master the use of estimating and project management software such as Timberline Sage and ProCore.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Estimating Team members, subcontractors, project managers, superintendents, clients, and leadership.
  • Independently prepare bids by 90 days, beyond foundational grasp of bidding procedures and qualifications.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to provide comprehensive bid packages upon award.
  • Communicate proactively with clients regarding bid outcomes and potential opportunities; engage in weekly management meetings supporting project management efforts.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment while maintaining professionalism and optimism.
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously, prioritizing urgent tasks as needed.
  • By one year, fully integrate into the team and independently handle multiple projects from initiation to completion with consistent, positive drive.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project estimating within the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications accurately.
  • Solid understanding of general contracting and subcontracting workflows, construction methods, terminology, and scheduling.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and utilize estimating software efficiently.
  • Experience managing bids for multiple projects concurrently, with budgets ranging from $2M-$6M, and capability to handle larger projects up to $20M.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook) and adept at editing and annotating PDFs.
  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record and reliable transportation is mandatory.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or a comparable blend of education and experience.
