Job description
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Estimator specialized in civil construction to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA. This position focuses on delivering precise cost projections for a wide array of projects spanning industrial, marine, commercial, and municipal sectors.
Key Duties
- Generate comprehensive and accurate cost estimates tailored to construction projects.
- Interpret project documents and specifications to identify detailed requirements.
- Execute quantity take-offs for diverse construction components.
- Partner with project managers and engineering teams to clarify project parameters.
- Apply specialized estimating software tools, particularly HCSS and HeavyBid, to enhance estimate accuracy and efficiency.
- Assess and compare subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure optimal pricing selections.
- Maintain and update a historical cost database to support future estimation efforts.
- Assist in the bid preparation and submission processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction with a focus on industrial and marine environments.
- Proficiency with estimating software including HCSS and HeavyBid.
- In-depth understanding of earthwork, grading, and utility installations pertinent to civil projects.
