About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to become part of our team based at the head office in South Surrey, British Columbia. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in construction estimating, playing a vital role in producing precise and competitive bids for various construction projects. This individual will be responsible for assessing project plans, conducting quantity take-offs, and formulating comprehensive cost estimates while working closely with project managers and engineers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Examine project plans and specifications to grasp project scope and requirements.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and craft detailed cost evaluations covering labor, materials, and equipment.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing and relevant data.
- Support the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring they meet all specified criteria.
- Evaluate project expenditures and budget projections, suggesting value engineering alternatives where suitable.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate progress and timelines related to estimations.
- Keep cost and pricing databases current to facilitate future bidding activities.
- Remain informed about industry developments, materials, and techniques to improve estimating methods.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least three years of experience in construction estimation.
- Experience in estimating Institutional, Commercial, Industrial (ICI), and Residential projects is advantageous.
- Strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
- Competency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Effective communication and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to perform under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Post-secondary education related to construction or estimating is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Exceptional attention to detail ensuring accuracy in cost estimations.
