About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Co-Ordinator to join our busy food manufacturing facility located in Athleague, County Roscommon. This is a permanent role requiring a probation period. The role focuses on overseeing the wastewater treatment plant to ensure its efficient and compliant operation.
Key Duties
- Manage the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the effluent treatment system.
- Keep up-to-date with operational procedures and methods related to wastewater treatment plant functioning.
- Maintain understanding of wastewater discharge regulations and consent limits.
- Possess foundational knowledge of the physical, chemical, and engineering principles involved in wastewater treatment processes.
- Conduct daily inspections and performance checks of the effluent plant to ensure optimal function; maintain detailed records including start-up, shutdown, and monitoring of specific processes such as the daily blood skid.
- Carry out planned maintenance during weekend shutdown periods and establish preventative maintenance schedules.
- Perform regular draining and cleaning of the effluent treatment facilities.
- Collaborate closely with site engineering and hygiene teams to address breakdowns, maintenance, and troubleshooting needs.
- Maintain ongoing communication with site management teams and ensure secure storage of effluent chemicals in accordance with environmental policies.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned within the scope of the role.
Experience and Skills Required

- Competent IT skills.
- Experience with treatment plants is advantageous but not mandatory as full training will be provided.
Working Hours
The position requires working core hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
